News Update November 15

There is no doubt in harness racing that you can very quickly experience the highs and lows in the industry and we certainly have felt that over the last few days.  No sooner had we received confirmation that our Somebeachsomewhere – Lombo Socialite colt would be in the Melbourne APG sale in February 2016 we experienced the heart wrenching phone call that he had injured himself badly in a paddock accident and had to be put down.  This was a tough day all round for the Yorkshire Park team as we were looking forward to presenting him at the APG sale.  Thanks to the girls at Northern Rivers Vet Clinic for their support who were terrific in their support and assistance.

On the plus side we will also be presenting two fillies in the Melbourne APG sale, a Falcon Seelster filly out of Vickymurphy and an Auckland Reactor filly out of My Little Black Dress.  Both of these fillies will be prepared by Blanche Poole at Rhiannon Park and we will provide further updates on their progress as they enter the sales preparation stage straight after xmas.

On the racing scene we have been thrilled with the first up run of Artful Christian when second at his first race start at Terang followed by a fast finishing fifth at Cranbourne a week later trained and driven by Chris Svanosio.  Leased to Peter Svanosio by Yorkshire Park this three year old gelding acquitted himself well at Terang and Cranbourne.  Watch The Dream continues to perform well and she must be near a win shortly after finishing with four seconds and a third from her last six starts. Unfortunately trainer Shane Tritton has had to back off her work due to a virus but hopefully she will be back in full work shortly.

Good reports on the progress of Whitney H from the John & Maree Caldow stable with a trial expected shortly before making her race track return in the coming weeks.  Yorkshire Park also leased a 2 year old Art Major filly (out of Lombo Socialite) to the Caldow stable and her progression has been pleasing as well.  Looking forward to how this filly progresses.

On the breeding scene we still have three mares to foal, Rock Me Gently to Sportswriter, Lombo Socialite to Courage Under Fire and the NZ mare Jewel Bromac to Auckland Reactor.  Hopefully some good news in the very near future.  I had a look at our foals this year on the weekend and all a growing and doing well.  The three colts by Majestic Son, Alta Christiano and Petrock plus a filly by A Rock n Roll Dance (photos availbale shortly).

I can also report that we have the following mares with 15 day positive test for this breeding season:

Shes In Vogue – positive to Lincoln Royal

My Little Black Dress – positive to Rock n Roll Heaven.

Vicky Murphy – positive to Western Terror.

Ima Ritzi Lombo – positive to Village Jolt.

Good luck and good punting.

Talk soon.
