News Update March, 2018.

Update 29th March:

Really pleased to see one of our APG Sale Graduates from 2017 in Jilliby Macarena (Auckland Reactor – Jewel Bromac) finish 3rd in his first race start at Maryborough today.  He is the second of our 2017 APG Graduates to make their race track debut with Sporting Icon (Sportswriter – Rock Me Gently) already gracing the race track on two occasions for a 6th & 5th .

Update 19th March:

Great to see Stylish Icon winning at Globe Derby today for trainer Alan Cronin and part owner Greg Moy.  The Yorkshire Park bred For A Reason filly did all the work early before taking the lead and holding off all challengers in a time of 2.0.7.  Really pleased to see our horses do well for their new owners and I’m sure that they will get a lot more fun out of her.

UPDATE 12th March:

Sundays Australasian Premier Trotting Sale breathed new life into harness racing with a very successful sale on the back of an excellent catalogue of yearlings.  A big congratulations to all vendors and preparers who did a fantastic job in meeting the market and preparing the yearlings in such a fine manner.  The sale grossed over $1M in sales from the 60 yearlings presented, clearance rate above 83% and the average sale price was just over the $20K mark well up on last year.

Yorkshire Park’s two fillies both sold above the reserve price and are heading to very good racing stables.  The Angus Hall x La Tonneralla filly will head to the Brent Lilley stables while the Majestic Son x Sixty Plus filly will head to the stables of Matt Craven.  Yorkshire Park wishes the new owners of the fillies all the very best and hopefully successful racing careers.

News, News, News:

This Sunday (11th March) Yorkshire Park will be represented by two fillies at the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale at Melton.  The first is by Angus Hall, a half sister to the 2017 3YO Breeders Crown runner up Jilliby Babavska while the second is out of a full sister to the 2017 NZ Dominion Handicap winner in Amaretto Sun by Majestic Son.   Both fillies have done particularly well and a big thank you to all the team at Rhiannon Park who have done such a great job in preparing them for the sale.

On the racing front we see the first of our 2017 sales representatives head to the races in Sporting Icon (Sportswriter x Rock Me Gently) who makes his debut at Geelong on Friday night.  Good luck to the Pace family who purchased the colt at the APG Sales from Yorkshire Park.

Whosashadylady has been a model of consistency in Tasmania recently with her last four starts producing 4,3,3,2 form line.  This Sunday she heads to Launceston to compete in the Lady Drivers series and will be handled by Kristy Grant.  Good luck to the Duggan team in Tasmania who have done a terrific job with the Yorkshire Park mare.

News from NZ is that both Yorkshire Park two year olds are back in work and hopefully we will see them at the trials this time in.  Lutetia Midfrew is about three weeks in advance of Rosa Parks in their preparation and we watch with interest their progression.  The John Hay stables has been in terrific form of late and hopefully some of that winner streak will rub off on the two fillies.

Artful Christian will most likely head to Bendigo on Tuesday 14th March following on from his excellent 3rd at Bendigo in 1.53.9 beaten four metres.  I’m sure if he performs up to that effort a win is just around the corner.

I’m pleased to report that our Rock N Roll Heaven yearling filly passed in at the APG Melbourne sales has now been fully syndicated and will head to the breakers this weekend.  The new group of owners have decided that the filly will head to the Chris Svanosio stables later in the year to commence her racing preparation.

Saturday night at Melton is the big Breed for Speed race night for the trotters and more importantly is the fund raiser for the Womens Cancer Foundation.  Congratulations to Duncan McPherson and HRV for what will be a terrific night.  Yorkshire Park will be there to contribute to what should be another great night, hopefully we raise lots of funds for research into Ovarian Cancer.

Don’t forget you can catch us on Twitter @yorkshirepark19.

That’s about all for now.

Good luck and good punting.

Yorkshire Park team.
