News Update February 2015

A mixed bag for Yorkshire Park at the recent APG Melbourne yearling sales with two of the four fillies presented for sale being sold and two not obtaining our reserve price.  While this was a disappointing result for us we are pleased that both fillies sold are going to good stables.

Lot 125 Mach Three out of My Little Black Dress NZ is heading to the Vince Vallalonga stables.

Lot 153 Grinfromeartoear out of Rock Me Gently is off to the David Moran stables.

On another note we have had to scratch our filly For A Reason out of Our Suicide Blonde NZ from the New South Wales APG sales due to injury which is not the ideal outcome.

Don’t forget Lot 25 at the Australian Premier Trotting yearling sale our Sundon colt out of La Tonneralla NZ on March the 8th at Melton.  This is the only Sundon in the sale out of a mare who is a half sister to two New Zealand Derby winners in King Charlie and Shezoneoftheboyz.  I’m sure he will attract some interest being the last of the Sundon’s.

On the racing front it was fantastic to see the run of Union Ally at Ballarat on the 30th January coming from last to finish 2nd beaten 3.6M to Lovelist in a real classy race.  Trained by Maree Campbell the filly will now be set for the Ballarat Oaks on Friday 13th February, 2015.  Yorkshire Park is represented in the ownership with Brenda, Claire, Ashlee and Pat all holding a small share each.  Good luck to the girls next Friday.

Pleasing reports out of New Zealand as our 3 year old Changeover filly “Whitney H” is back in work and progressing nicely after the injury set back a couple of months ago.  Qualified already we are hoping that she graces the race track shortly under the guidance of Ashburton trainer John Hay.

Watch The Dream is due for her race track return this coming Friday night at Newcastle after getting a virus that may explain her poor performance at Bankstown.  If all works out well she will head to the heats of the New South Wales Oaks on Saturday week.  Fingers crossed!!

Christian Cavalier is back in work after a short let up and he too is qualified and hopefully also ready to make his race track debut in the care of Paul Campbell.

Two other good stories recently with the return to training of Changeover Fella who is out of a half sister to Bettor Cover Lover bred by Yorkshire Park and purchased by Brian Tuddenham of Sting Like A Bee fame.  Despite two disappointing race track performance reports are positive on his return to training.  The other is the progression of another Yorkshire Park bred filly in the care of Jeff Towers at Ballarat.  Unnamed at this stage she is starting to show some progression to the work outs and hopefully soon to the trials.  By Major In Art the filly has had her injury issues along the way but we hope they are all behind her now.

Next week I’m off to New Zealand for the PGG Wrightson yearling sales at Christchurch on the 17th & 18th February followed by a couple of days touring stud farms and down to Ashburton to see Whitney H.  Finishing off the week will be a trip to Addington trots on Friday night.  Really looking forward to the week ahead.

Looking forward to provide updates with the activities around Yorkshire Park and the NZ trip next week.

Good luck.
