News Update 27th August.

Oh so Close!  What an effort today by Jilliby Babavska in the Group 1 Woodlands Stud 3YO Trotting Colts & Geldings Final going down by a neck in 2.0.7 with a fast last half of 58.2 coming from back in the field at the bell.  In a stirring finish Jilliby Babavska just failed to run down the leader in a terrific race on a cold wet and windy Melton day.  Congratulations to Paddy Lee & Glen Craven on a terrific training & driving effort.  The Sundon gelding will  now go to the paddock for a good spell and I’m sure that we have something special to look forward to with this bloke next season.

News Update 20th August.

Jilliby Babavska Breeders Crown Bound.

Jilliby Babavska notched up his third win on the trot at Maryborough last Thursday in the 3rd Heat of the Breeders Crown in impressive style.  The talented trotter was well handled by Glen Craven and looks to be on the improve with his racing manners.

The Son of Sundon now heads to the 3YO Trotters Breeders Crown Final at Melton on Sunday 27th August in what will be a difficult task after drawing the outside of the second row in the barrier draw at Bendigo on Saturday Night.   No doubt this will be his most difficult challenge to date but with a little luck and on his best behaviour I’m sure he will put himself right in the race.  Good luck to Paddy Lee & Glen Craven on Sunday, lets hope it’s Group One Glory for Yorkshire Park breeding barn.

News Update 12th August.

Another fantastic week for Yorkshire Park with three more winners from four starters.  Winners this week were Artful Christian (Charlton), Pearlescent (Mildura) and Go Home Jo (Bankstown).  Fantastic to see Pearlescent win her first race yesterday after a really good second the week before.  Our other runner for the week All Done Up finished 6th after having little luck in a heat of the Breeders Crown.

Really saddened to hear of the passing of Cyril Hay the father of Hall Of Fame member and our trainer in NZ John Hay.  All at Yorkshire Park pass on our condolences and best wishes to the Hay family.

News Update: 6th August.

Jilliby Babavska continued on his good form with an impressive win Redwood day at Maryborough in the Ralph Ford Memorial 3YO Trot over 2190 metres.  Coming from the outside of the second row the Sundon gelding stormed home to win by 20.6 metres in a quick time of 2.0.8 confidently driven by Glen Craven.  No doubt the talented trotter continues to improve and may have been a bit unlucky to miss out on a start in the Victoria Trotters Derby ran later in the day.  Out of the Yorkshire Park mare La Tonneralla the 3 YO is related to two NZ Derby winners and looks as though he is on the way up.

News, News, News:

What a month July was for Yorkshire Park bred and sold horses with 19 starters taking to the track returning 9 wins, 4  placings and 4 individual winners.  The star of the month was All Done Up who put together 4 wins on the trot, Artful Christian and Social Fireball with 2 wins and Jilliby Babavska 1 win.

All Done Up is the first foal of My Little Black Dress (Real Desire) who has subsequently foaled a 2 YO by Auckland Reactor called Dancing Along, a colt by Pet Rock sold to Kerryn Manning at last years APG sale, and a weanling filly by Rock N Roll Heaven who has been entered for the APG Melbourne sale in February.  My Little Black Dress is currently in foal to Heston Blue Chip.

Really pleased to see Social Fireball putting it all together at her last three starts with two very impressive wins and a placing.  The talented trotter is by the ill fated Courage Under Fire and has always shown above average ability but found ways to get it all wrong on occasions.  Well done to trainer Brooke Hansen on her efforts with the mare and the marked improvement in  her manners.

Artful Christian continues on his good form having won 7 races from just 20 starts to date including two really impressive wins during the month of July.  The Major In Art gelding continues to get better with every run and has only been out of the prize money on four or five occasions to date.  No doubt there is a lot more in store for this bloke based on his performance to date and hopefully he can progress to Metropolitan class in the future.

Jilliby Babavska finally broke through for his maiden win after running two very good placings during the month.  The talented Sundon trotter was very impressive winning by 47 metres at Maryborough a week ago and when he learns to race truly he will no doubt pick up more wins on the way.  There is a lot to look forward to with this breed as his mother La Tonneralla is a half sister to 2 NZ Trotting Derby winners.  The mare has produced two other foals to date, a colt by Majestic Son sold at last years Australasian Trotting Sale and a weanling filly by Angus Hall.  She is currently in foal to Love You and we are very excited about  this mating.

On the racing scene Whosashadylady is still in the paddock and our two yearlings in NZ, Lutetia Midfrew and Rosa Parks continue to come along quite nicely under the care of John Hay in Ashburton.

Not long now before the foaling season is in full swing and the excitement of newly born foals safely on the ground all in good order.  Yorkshire Park is currently working through this years breeding program and will announce what mares are going to what stallions this season shortly.  What we do know is that recently retired Bettors Delight mare “Watch The Dream” will be served by Somebeachsomewhere and “Whitney H” will go to Sportswriter.

Don’t forget you can catch us on Twitter @yorkshirepark19.

That’s about all for now.

Good luck and good punting.
