News Update August 2014 – 2

Another great day at the Breeders Crown at Melton on Sunday when the best of Australasian standardbreds went round in Ten Group One feature races full of highlights and terrific performances.  Congratulations to all the winners on the day, this event is the Jewell in the crown for harness racing enthusiasts and continues to grow.  My highlight for the day was Katy Perry winning the 2YO fillies division from Joanne’s Delight in a ripper of a finish.  Big congratulations to our trainer Graham Lyon on his horse Maybetothemax who finished 5th in the 3 YO Colts & Geldings Trotters division, this bloke has a lot more wins in front of him.

Our Major In Art yearling colt continues to impress as his continues his journey towards the race track.  After five weeks work is  really coming along nicely and trainer Graham Lyon is pleased with his progress.  Another week or two in work then he will be off to the paddock for a short let up.  Yorkshire Park have him for sale at $10,000 being out of Fay Christian (Christian Cullen) and anyone wishing to have a look at him can do so by contacting us.

We can also report that the last of our yearling fillies (Emmy) Real Desire x Yorkshire Rebel has been sold and we wish the new owners all the very best with this filly.  She is a big strong girl who has plenty of spunk and we look forward to seeing her at the races in the near future.

Whitney H is progressing well in New Zealand and on the 19th August she qualified at Ashburton by finishing 5th in 2.4.2 last half in 57.7 home in 28.1.  Lets hope she continues to improve and hopefully graces the race track in the very near future.

A big week for horses racing that Yorkshire Park have an interest in.  It started at Bendigo on Wednesday night when Union Ally (part owned by Brenda, Ashlee, Pat & Claire) steamed down the outside to win running away by 3.9M in a time of 2.0.2.  It was an enormous cheer as the filly went across the line as the syndicate of women involved certainly made themselves known.  And it continued on Thursday night when the Graham Lyon trained Neishars Jet flashed home to finish second beaten 2.5M in a mile race at Echuca.  Another win is around the corner for her.

Plenty of work going on at Yorkshire Park property at Kyabram with new fencing being undertaken along with upgrading the stable complex.  More photos to follow as we get the property ready for the preparation of the yearlings for the upcoming sales.  Thanks to Kath & Luke along with Josh and Bruce for all the work they have done.
