News Update September 15

Not a lot to report on the racing scene for Yorkshire Park with Whitney H headed off to the paddock for six weeks following her Charlton 3rd a week ago.  She arrived home in terrific condition and while we could have continued on with her both John Caldow and I felt it was best to have a short let up before continuing her racing campaign.

In NZ, 2 Year Old I Can Dream will be back in work in the coming weeks as she heads towards her second preparation.  All reports to date on her have been positive and we look forward to seeing how John Hay goes with the If I Can Dream filly.

Watch The Dream returned to the trials on Thursday 9th September at Newcastle with a solid 3rd in 2.01.0 over the 1609 metre metre journey.  Sitting in the death seat for the trip they scooted home in 58.4 to be beaten 4m x head although she was just allowed to run to the line.  Another trial most likely in the coming weeks will see her prepare for the next stint at the race track.  On the plus side it looks as though her regular driver Lauren Panella will return to driving by the end of the month following her race track fall a couple of months ago.

Our other 2 year old fillies are in the paddock (Major In Art x Back Cover Lover and For A Reason x Our Suicide Blonde) both will have a good break before returning for their next preparation.

September also starts the breeding season and we have two of our mares due to foal in the early part of the month.  Both La Tonneralla in foal to Majestic Son and Ima Ritzi Lombo in foal to Alta Christiano are expected to deliver foals.  It’s an exciting time and we wait with great anticipation.  Early October should see the arrival of two more foals as My Little Black Dress (in foal to A Rock n Roll Dance) and Vickymurphy (In foal to Petrock) are due to foal.

Some more exciting news that My Aliyana bred by Yorkshire Park some years ago and sold to interests in NSW will be returning home after her retirement from the race track recently.  The winner of 12 races and $58,000 Molly will go to stud to be mated with Major In Art and then head back to Yorkshire Park.  I thank Glen Frew and the other owners who have opted to send her back to Yorkshire Park to continue to the stage of her journey.

We might also have some further news as we negotiate the purchase of a recently retired trotting race mare by Sundon out of a half sister to the very good trotter Lyell Creek who won over $3M.  More to follow on this one.

That’s about all for the moment, look forward to update further soon.

Good luck,

Yorkshire Park team.
