News Update March 2019

News Update 27 March:

It is always good to see one of your foals making their race track debut and tonight at Bendigo (27/3) Magical starts her racing career.  Sold by Yorkshire Park at the 2018 APTS sale in Melbourne the filly by Angus Hall out of La Tonneralla gets her opportunity.  Magical is trained by Brent Lilley and will be driven tonight by Chris Alford.  No surprise to see Brent Lilley purchase the half brother to Magical by Love You at this years APTS sale from Yorkshire Park.  We wish the connections and the Brent Lilley stable all the very best for tonight.

News Update 11 March:

A really good result for Yorkshire Park on Sunday with our Love You colt out of La Tonneralla sold for $31,000 at the Australian Premier Trotting sale to the Brent Lilley stable who also purchased our filly out of the same mare at last years trotting sale.  Great to see him go to a really good stable and I’m sure he will do a good job for the new owners.  The two year old named Magical qualified at Kilmore Trials last Tuesday so we will be looking forward to seeing her at the track shortly.

News: News: News:

Plenty happening in the last month or so for Yorkshire Park with APG Melbourne Yearling sales wrapping up, a trip to New Zealand for the New Zealand Standardbred Yearling sales in Christchurch and then back in time for the Sydney APG Yearling sales last Sunday 3 March.

After finishing up with the Melbourne sales I headed over the ditch to Christchurch to witness what was a truly amazing sale with records being broken everywhere.  A big congratulations to NZ Bloodstock for the work they put into the sales which undoubtably a huge success.  No joy for Yorkshire Park in the purchasing stakes but it was fantastic to catch up with our NZ trainer in John Hay & his partner Ineka Lee and spend some serious time looking at many yearlings both trotters and pacers.  Finished off the week with a trip to Addington on the Friday night to witness some quality racing then back home on the Saturday.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the Sydney APG sale but did spend the afternoon in front of the computer watching it on live streaming. A big thank you to John Coffey for assisting us in purchasing Lot 302 a filly by Artspeak out of a Bettors Delight mare Delightfullybettor, a winner of 8 races in her own right.  Really pleased to pick this filly up and we look forward to getting her back to Yorkshire Park in the coming days.

On the breeding scene the last of our mares Vickymurphy has been confirmed in foal to Sunshine Beach which is very pleasing.  It has been a long breeding season with three fillies arriving and five mares back in foal.

Racing wise Lutetia Midfrew headed to the Adrian Duggan stable in Hobart after disappointing at her three starts back from a spell.  Hopefully a change of scenery will be good for the Sportswriter filly and we wish Adrian all the best with her.  Earlier last year we syndicated our filly by Rock N Roll Heaven out of My Little Black Dress and following a really pleasing first preparation which did see her at the work outs, she returned home for a spell.  Pleased to say she has done really well at home and on Sunday headed back to the stable of Chris Svanosio.   Alta Mach is still out for a spell and will be back soon at the Amanda Turnbull stable.  Really looking forward to the Mach Three mare being back in work in the coming month or so.

Yorkshire Park is also pleased to announce that our yearling filly by Village Jolt out of Ima Ritzi Lombo will head to the newly formed Club 21 syndicate on lease run by the Cranbourne Harness Racing Club.   This is an exciting venture and we wish Club 21 all the best with our filly.  Our Sportswriter colt out of Lombo Socialite is at the breakers at the moment and this week will be in the cart for the first time.  He is a lovely colt and we look forward to seeing the work Luke Bryant from Ravitalli Standardbreds has been able to do with our boy Jake.  We will most likely advertise this boy for sale in the coming weeks.

On Sunday we head to the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale at Oaklands Junction with our Love You yearling colt out of La Tonneralla being the opening Lot in the sale.  He is a great colt and it is pleasing to see that his half sister sold in last years sale by Angus Hall has been named “Magical” and heads to the trials on Tuesday (5th) a Kilmore for Brent Lilley.  Also caught up with Paddy Lee recently who let us know that Jilliby Babavska runner up in the 2017 3YO Breeders Crown is on his way back from a long break due to injury.  He is a super talented horse and we wish Paddy all the best in getting him back to the track.  He also is a half brother to the Love You yearling heading to the sales on Sunday.

It has been an exciting time in harness racing with quality feature races in recent times and a boost in the Yearling sales results all providing for what should be an exciting future.
