News Update June 2019

News Update 26 June:

Jilliby Babvska makes it four from four this time in with an easy win at Terang on Wednesday winning by 18 metres with a bit in hand.  Well handled by Jason Lee he never looked in doubt over the 2180 metres in 2.3.1.  He is off to Ballarat on Wednesday 3 July to see if he can make it five from five.  Good luck to Paddy Lee and the team.

News Update 13 June:

Great day today for Yorkshire park with She Will Rock saluting at her first race start at Kilmore winning by 6 metres in 2.0.4.  The Yorkshire Park bred and part owned filly really acquitted herself well and never looked in danger of defeat.  Well done to Chris Svanosio and the team and a big congratulations to a fantastic group of owners.  Special congratulations to Brendan McKenzie as She Will Rock is his first horse. One starter one win now that’s a good record.

The day could have been a lot better for Yorkshire Park when Magical was beaten at Maryborough by a half head after blowing the start and giving them a big start.  The half sister to Jilliby Babavska certainly has her fair share of ability but will need to improve her manners.  She is in good hands with Brent Lilley and a bright future beckons for her.

News Update 11 June:

Jilliby Babavska continued on his winning way at Melton tonight with an impressive 12.8 metre win in 1.57.6 driven by Jason Lee.  The Paddy Lee trained horse made it three from three this time in and was ultra impressive.  Sold through the APT Sale by Yorkshire Park the son of Sundon continues to impress with his brilliant speed.  Yorkshire Park’s Dennis Bice said “This bloke is a serious racehorse and hopefully he remains sound so we can see just how good he could be”.  A big congrats to Paddy Lee and the team for their patience and persistence with him”.

News Update 9 June:

Lutetia Midfrew broke through for her maiden victory on Sunday night with an impressive 5.5 metre win at Launceston in 1.58.8 driven by Gareth Rattray.  Congratulations to Adrian Duggan for a top training performance as the Sportswriter filly had been building to the win.

News Update:

Lots of activity for Yorkshire Park over the last month both from the breeding and racing side and plenty of good performances on the race track.

The very exciting news is the return to Yorkshire Park of Masterkova for the upcoming breeding season.  Masterkova was bred by Yorkshire Park and sold through the APG Yearling sales in Melbourne back in 2014 to Justin Baker and the Big Wookie Syndicate.  She was trained by Emma Stewart and put together a promising racing career of 11 starts for 3 wins, 3 seconds & 3 thirds with her best winning mile rate of 1.55.7.  Unfortunately she sustained an injury to her hock and was retired.  A big thank you to Justin Baker and Emma Stewart in allowing Yorkshire Park to purchase the promising filly back.  She will arrive at Yorkshire Park next week and we will plan out  breeding option for her.  The mare is by the great Falcon Seelster out of Vickymurphy (Bettors Delight) so plenty of option to consider.

During May our three weanling fillies all returned to Yorkshire Park and spent a bit of time with further education and getting used to their new surroundings. Really like the Well Said filly but very happy with all of them.

On the racing scene Jilliby Babavska continues to take all before him with two impressive wins on the comeback trail, Artful Christian continues to be a model of consistency and the exciting news is She Will Rock (Rock N Roll Heaven – My Little Black Dress) makes her race track debut on Thursday at Kilmore under the guidance of Chris Svanosio following an impressive trial win at Bendigo last Monday.   Stylish Icon continued her model of consistency with a win at Globe Derby on Monday.  Lutetia Midfrew is bursting to break through in Tassie following a really good second followed up with a luckless third placing last week.  She gets her chance this coming Sunday at Launceston where she has draw the pole.  Hoping for a bit of luck for Adrian Duggan and the team.

Lets hope for another really good week on the race track.
