News Update June, 2018.

News Update:

17th June: Great to see Stylish Icon greet the judge today (17/6) at Horsham for trainer Alan Cronin and Greg Moy and his owners.  The For A Reason filly has been knocking on the door of late and the win today is certainly well deserved.

15th June: Yorkshire park is pleased to announce that Lutetia Midfrew will leave New Zealand for the John Caldow stables on Sunday.  The Sportswriter 2 Year old will look to qualify soon after arriving after a couple of impressive work outs under the care of John Hay at Ashburton.  Unfortunately weather conditions and racing opportunities have meant that it is in our best interests to bring her to Victoria.

News, News, News:

After enjoying a months break in Hawaii it is a bit of a shock to return home to the colder and wetter weather.  I guess we have been spoilt but on the flip side it’s good to be back and engaging back with the horses and the farm.

On the racing scene while we were away it was good news with Artful Christian greeting the judge at Bendigo on the 30th May, well handled by junior reinswoman Michelle Phillips in 1.57.1 to bring up his 11th career win.  He has been a model of consistency and really never runs a bad race.  Lutetia Midfrew in New Zealand has been back to the work outs and won convincingly under the guidance of John Hay and will now look to qualify at the trials in the coming weeks.  The Sportswriter filly has continued to improve and hopefully we will be at the races shortly.  We will need to make a decision as to whether we bring her back to Australia or leave her in NZ which will be dependant on racing opportunities.  Whosashadylady makes her race track return in Hobart this coming Friday night after a short let up and all reports are that she has done well since her break.  The Bettors Delight mare has been a model of consistency but is finding it hard to break through for her second career win.  Maybe Friday night might be it.  Really pleased to see Stylish Icon performing well for trainer Alan Cronin with a number of placings recently.  Hopefully the For A Reason mare can greet the judge shortly as she really does deserve to win again following some terrific efforts of late.

Some more good news while we where away from the Paddy Lee stable is that the Yorkshire Park bred trotter Jilliby Babavska is on his way back and hopefully he can stay sound and continue the terrific form from last season when he finished second in the 3YO Breeders Crown final.  Fingers crossed all goes well.

Alta Mach continues to enjoy a couple of months in the paddock and is showing no signs of the injury she suffered at her last race start.  Fingers crossed that all will be good when she returns.

The NZ All Aged Sales at Auckland took place while we were away and unfortunately we were the losing bidder on a weanling filly by Sweet Lou out of Bizzie Girl a half sister to the talented Eliza Dushka.  I really liked her so it will be interesting to see how she goes in the future.

A big congratulations to trainer Chris Svanosio and the McLean family with their win in the VHRC Holmfield 3YO Trotters Group 2 with Anywhere Hugo coming from almost last to win in impressive fashion.  Too top it off Chris made it a quinella with Kyvalley Finn finishing second.  Well done to all.

That’s about it for now but we will provide further updates during the month.
