News Update 26 January 2021

Great to see Glenavril King greet the judge in first position on Monday at Stawell to make it win number eight and $54,000 in prize money.  The bigger part of the story is that the win became Kerryn Manning’s 4,000 race win and to do it on a Yorkshire Park bred horse was exciting.  Kerryn has been a pioneer for female drivers and has set the standard world wide.  Congratulations to Barry Dunn and his wife who own Glenavril King.

News Update: 24 January 2021.

She Will Rock made it two wins for the month of January with a good performance on Sunday at Cranbourne getting up the sprint lane to win in 1.56.8 driven by Tayla French.  It is a good start to 2021 for the Rock N Roll Heaven mare who looks to be returning to her best.

Our Narissa Franco returned home to Yorkshire Park this week.  The half sister to Franco Nelson unfortunately lost her Lincoln Royal colt this year and will wait to be bred again next season.

Dreams Are Bettor returned to John Caldow stables earlier in the month and we look forward to how the Artspeak filly progresses.  A yearling purchase at the Sydney sales by Yorkshire Park in 2019 the filly has already qualified and we look forward to her making her racing debut soon.

News Update January 2021

Great start to 2021 with She Will Rock winning at Swan Hill on Tuesday night (5th Jan) by 22 metres in 1.58.4.  The Yorkshire Park bred and part owned filly returned to her very best with an emphatic win and she looks to be back to her very best.

Good news that Watch The Dream has an early positive to Vincent and La Tonneralla has been confirmed in foal to Pastor Stephen.  Unfortunately Masterkova has missed to Poster Boy and we still await news on Sixty Plus who is being served by Speeding Spur.

Yorkshire Park has always taken an active interest in our horses once they leave our care and it was great to see one of our own feature on the HERO program on Channel Seven then other night.  Artful Christian was bred at Yorkshire Park and sold to Peter Svanosio winning 11 races and placing on 27 other race appearances.  He won $89K in prize money winning in a best time of 1.57.1.  Unfortunately he broke down injuring a tendon but has found his way to the rehoming program HERO after plenty of care from Peter and the vets.  Banker as he is known has now found his way to the care of Holly Lewis who is pursuing a new show career with him.  Check out Harness Racing Victoria face book page on 4 January post to see the story.  Go Banker!

Last season Yorkshire Park aimed to win 24 races with it’s owned and bred horses.  We nearly made it with 23 wins for the year which is not a bad performance.  This year 2021 we are pushing the bar a bit higher looking to win 30 races with our own race horses and Yorkshire Park bred horses.  Fingers crossed.

Hopefully we have more positive updates in the coming weeks.

Yorkshire Park team.
